General Use Guidelines for Speckled Stroke & Coat™ Glazes
For a translucent effect, apply just one coat of Mayco Speckled Stroke & Coat™. For full, vibrant coverage, we recommend applying 2–3 coats, allowing each layer to dry before the next. These glazes naturally fire to a glossy finish at cone 06/05 without the need for a clear glaze. However, if extra shine or protection is desired, you can apply a clear glaze such as NT-CLR Clear One Dipping Glaze or S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing.
Speckled Stroke & Coat™ can be applied to wet or leather hard clay and fired in a single firing to cone 04. This method retains bright, vivid colour while saving time and energy. Be sure to leave an area—such as the bottom or back of the piece—unglazed to allow proper outgassing during firing.
These glazes are designed to mature at cone 06/05. While most colours (especially reds, oranges, yellows, greens, and blues) hold up well at mid-range cone 6 temperatures, the speckles may soften or blur slightly. For best results, always test on your chosen clay body and in your specific kiln.
All Speckled Stroke & Coat™ glazes are certified AP Non-Toxic, Food Safe, and Dinnerware Safe when used as directed.
