Description
Mayco Wax Resist (AC-302) is a water-based liquid used in pottery to block glaze, slip, or underglaze from sticking to specific parts of clay.
How It Works
- Repels Color: It stops liquid glaze or underglaze from attaching to the clay.
- Burns Away: The wax safely disappears when fired inside a kiln.
- Easy to See: It often has a blue tint so you can spot where you painted it.
Best Uses
- Clean Bottoms: Paint it on the bottom (the foot) of a mug or bowl so the piece does not stick to the kiln shelf.
- Layering Designs: Brush it over dry underglaze to save your pattern while adding a new background color.
- Textured Effects: Dab it on with a sponge to make fun dot patterns or a halo effect.
Quick Tips
- One Coat: Apply just one generous coat. A second coat will bead up and fail to stick.
- Let It Dry: Wait until the wax is completely dry before adding any glaze on top.
- Clean Up: Wash your brushes right away using warm water and soap.
